The story starts from here. After being resigned from a DMC that has offices in several SE Asia countries, the founder formed a travel business with a tiny team set up (just 3 people) and used his house as the office. He studied in tourism management and more than 10 years of experience in the tourism consulting and tourism representation office as coordinator, a project led by the Ministry of Tourism, the Republic of Indonesia. His experience in the tourism representation office inspired him to build an incoming travel company.
After a long process and wait, finally in May 2016, the company got the permit and became a legal travel agency. The company began with domestic tours for about 1 year or so. Months rolled on; the founder kept applying to become a local partner/agency to many potential partners. But it is not a simple process, even very difficult to successfully engage with a partner.
Through the discussion forum of Adventure Travel Trade Association where the company is also being a member of, he was glanced at by sourcing manager of Evaneos, a tour platform based in Paris and being interviewed during ITB Asia in Singapore. It’s a long process to be eligible as a local agency because there must be an agent who is able to speak in Italian (as we were offered as local agency for this market) and sell the tour nicely.
We got our very first request from Evaneos for the Italian market. We’d proven that we are reliable company with quick response manner thus by September 2017 we extended to German-speaking market.
We grew a lot and many bookings came. It led us from 3 people to 16 people at the office. And by December 2018, Spain market was onboard and officially handled 3 key markets: Italian, German and Spanish!
Sadly, COVID happened. 70 % of staff members were laid off. The rest team members were minimally paid. Sustaining the company's existence is not possible anymore and by January 2022 decided to cease the operation. It was a very difficult situation.
Spirit carries on! The selection and onboarding process with a new partner, TravelLocal, a tour platform based in Bristol, UK had been successfully done. And we are very proud to be one of TravelLocal local agencies for Indonesia. We recalled our old friends to rejoin the company and they joined us again to develop a new hope.
2 new sales agents onboard and now we are in full force in the sales team. New division of Traveller Care was also officially launched. It brings many advantages to travellers to make them feel secure when travelling to Indonesia.
